Art to Inspiration: Jill Ricci

I absolutely loved the Art to Inspiration piece this month, and am thrilled to have discovered a new, favorite artist, Jill Ricci.  

I love all the color and pattern within her work, and really enjoyed visiting her website and checking out her other pieces.  I found Ricci's explanation of her work to be so inspiring:

One of the most arresting visuals for me is an old wall layered with papers, graffiti and text - our modern hieroglyphics. I try to re-create this beauty in my work, the layers of time and decay are what interest me. I hope that the person viewing my work will linger, trying to discover hidden imagery and text and depending on their life experience, find their own meaning or interpretation.

I also love the layered and mixed media elements of her work, as they provide such interesting depth to her pieces such as Float, pictured below.

Colors of Sorrento

I just finished editing and organizing the rest of my thousands of photos from my recent trip to Italy and am excited to share them with you.

My absolute favorite place that we visited was the beautiful, seaside town of Sorrento.  I have never seen anything quite like the vibrant colors that occupy every inch of space there (and considering that we live in the Caribbean, that's saying a lot!).

There's nothing I love more than a beautiful blue.  Combine a few pretty blues with a pop of bright color?  I'm in heaven!

Sorrento was absolutely breathtaking.  I still cannot get over the colors!

Keep Clean & Carry On

Today, I'm hoping to start off my week on a productive note and I have a little something something for you, dear friends.

Recently, the lovely Meredith of Everything Espey wrote an oh-so-helpful blog post about a wonderful daily chore chart that she discovered over on Design Finch.  I loved this because:

• I am a slob.
• I hate cleaning.
• I love pretty printables.
• I like to organize.

Meredith inspired me to hop on the bandwagon and make a little cleaning/organizing chart of my own.  I'm hoping this will help me accomplish tasks throughout the day/week so that I don't have to spend half a day every weekend doing the cleaning and de-cluttering that I should have been doing little by little during the week.

Here's my cleaning chart; I thought if I made it pretty, it might help my slobby self?!?  We'll see.  I'm hoping to turn into more of a "place for everything and everything in it's place" kind of gal.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
